ABOUT 2 FRIENDS
2 Friends Gallery is a gallery unlike any other in Alaska. We carry a carefully curated and constantly changing selection of original art, along with many unique, rare and hard to find resale pieces by well known Alaska and Alaska Native artists.
We are proud to display current works from numerous established local artists, as well as an eclectic collection of jewelry, pottery, clothing, and textiles from artisans around the world. When you enter our gallery, we want you to smile and soak up the vibrant colors and countless textures of things made by human hands.
OUR OWNERS
2 Friends was purchased by Debra Lindsay-Hudgins and Camille Strain in 2019.
Debra Lindsay-Hudgins was born and raised in the Detroit area, and received a A.B in religious studies from Asbury University and an M. Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary. She served as a United Methodist minister until 2011. She then worked in institutional advancement for several years at Alaska Pacific University, the Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and The Salvation Army. In 2015 she made another career shift by purchasing Artworks Gallery & Glass Studio in Eagle River. When 2 Friends Gallery came up for sale, she and her friend, Camille, took the plunge and moved uptown (okay, Midtown). She is married to Doug Lindsay and they have five Golden Retriever children.
Camille Strain was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She has an A.S. degree in Nursing from Macon College in Georgia, and a B.S. degree in Psychology from UAA. She currently works as a NICU nurse at Providence Medical Center in addition to taking care of the “back of the house” at 2 Friends (among other things she does payroll, which makes her the most important partner according to the staff!). She is married to Bryant, and is the mother of six children, the majority of whom (thankfully, she says) are grown.
OUR STORE GREETER
MaryBerry, aka MBISS AM/CAN CH GCHB CH Sterling’s EZ as Pie (yes, she is named after Dame Mary Berry of Great British Baking Show fame) has been the official store greeter since she was a puppy in 2020. In addition to coming to the store with her mom most days, she has an active career as a Conformation show dog, and has shown in Texas, Oklahoma, Utah, Michigan, Washington, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Virginia, and Canada in addition to Alaska (the girl definitely gets around!) But don’t be fooled: she likes tummy scratches more than any show ring!
